This image from the Zen City series draws visual inspiration from a fan or disk motor component—an object associated with cooling, movement, and circulation within a machine. Created through my Pixel Montage technique, the image is composed of thousands of fragments from botanical photographs. The circular shape dominates the composition, suggesting the flow of energy or air, while surrounding mechanical forms frame it with industrial precision.
Despite the mechanical impression, the surface is entirely organic. Petal textures, bark-like surfaces, and floral patterns are layered to form the illusion of metallic and synthetic materials. The image plays with contrasts: stillness and motion, synthetic and organic, function and form. It proposes a meditation on how systems—whether biological or digital—require circulation to survive.
This work encourages viewers to reimagine machines as living entities, and to reflect on the often-overlooked natural inspirations behind mechanical design. It is a quiet dialogue between material worlds, blurring the line between the industrial and the botanical.
