Concept

In this piece from the Zen City series, the viewer encounters an abstract yet familiar array of cylindrical shapes and grid-like layouts reminiscent of an audio amplifier or power regulation unit. Using my Pixel Montage technique, I reconstructed these forms entirely from botanical photography—textures of moss, leaves, stems, and bark layered and reconfigured to mimic the structured logic of a machine’s inner workings.

The cylindrical “capacitor” shapes suggest potential energy stored and ready to flow. At a glance, they appear metallic and industrial, yet they are made from the rich surfaces of plant life. This dual reading—natural yet artificial—invites the viewer to reflect on the similarities between biological and technological storage systems. Just as nature conserves water, light, and energy, machines store charge, current, and information.

The arrangement is rhythmic and functional, evoking both circuitry and architecture. It encourages a meditation on sustainability, capacity, and the silent forces that sustain complex systems. Through natural elements reimagined as industrial structure, the work becomes a metaphor for the hidden harmony that underlies both machines and living ecosystems.
