This image from the Zen City series presents a highly structured grid pattern that echoes the complexity of a printed circuit board. At a glance, it resembles an abstracted aerial view of an industrial zone or data center, with rectangular modules, solder points, and connecting paths arranged in logical precision. Created using my Pixel Montage technique, the image is built entirely from photographs taken in botanical gardens—each segment composed of leaves, flowers, and greenery.
The central green zone appears dense and lush, standing in contrast to the rigid, rectilinear formations around it. This interplay creates a visual metaphor between nature and human technology. The “electronic” features become garden-like, while the “natural” elements appear meticulously engineered.
This piece explores how natural and artificial systems are not opposites but reflections of one another. The apparent logic of the circuit board mirrors the patterns found in plant biology—vascular systems, growth rhythms, and cellular networks. It invites the viewer to contemplate a deeper harmony between life and machinery, and to question the boundaries between the constructed and the organic.
